Like, countless of others around the world, I too was deeply moved and extremely angry over the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and yet, feeling utterly powerless to do anything. So when the opportunity presented itself in September 2002, to express how I felt. I chose to convey my profound gratitude to the men and women of both civilian and professional ranks, who gave so selflessly of themselves to help the massive numbers of victims. In this, I wrote the poem "One Rock At A Time" (c) in commemoration of their compassion and dedication.
Today, I received notification from the Editing Manager of External Portraits that the committee from the International Society of Poet's selected my poem for International recognition by publication (No. P6566604-999 1).
My poem has also been published on poetry.com, which can be viewed by clicking here
It is with sincere gratitude that I accept this, but I do so only in rememberance that it has derived from a profoundly tragic event occurring in our American history that has and continues to cost others far more than any of us will ever be able to imagine.
